Day 26: Wasp vs. Ant

More mismatched a fight in large.

This wasp was dwelling in this cut bamboo shoot, but its hidey-hole got raided by an ant. The ant held its own, giving the wasp the runaround as it tried to defend its home. The ant seemed entirely unfazed by the wasp, which skittered about trying to shoo the ant away without letting it get close. Interesting to see! 

There were also loads of mining bees on the bamboo, and I spotted a plant bug. A series of shots of the ant-wasp interaction can be seen on Flickr (right from here), and all of my pics are right from this ashy mining bee.
