Lathyrus Odoratus

Roach

Several butterfly firsts on this morning's walk  - my first Orange Tip of the year, followed rapidly by my first pair of Speckled Wood and then a Large White. There were also lots of peacocks and brimstones around. I wasn't able to photograph any of them so here instead is a shoal of roach which I spotted in a small pond beside a bridleway. The pond is about a quarter of a mile from the river Ouse so I assume the fish must have been transferred, perhaps as eggs, to the pond during a past flood.
