Hobart Day #1

My girl friend and I flew to Hobart early this morning. People are very friendly here and the bus driver from the airport dropped us off at our Airbnb accommodation. We walked down to the waterfront where the Aurora Australia, the Antarctic icebreaker, was moored. It is quite impressive with its size and its bright orange paint (see extra).
We then walked to Salamanca place for some lunch then back to the pier to arrange our ferry and entrance tickets to MONA (museum of old and new art) tomorrow. Neither if us have been to MONA before and was the main purpose of the trip. After a coffee overlooking the water we went to the Lark Distillery Whiskey Bar. It was a cosy bar filled with leather Chesterfield couches and lots of aged wood. We decided not to do the tour and opted to try the Forty Spotted Gin and tonic, made with Capi tonic, pepper berries and ruby grapefruit rind. It was seriously the best G & T I have ever tasted and we ended up having 2 of them. We staggered home via the supermarket to pick up some wine and nibbles which we demolished at home and managed to stay up until 8.30pm before collapsing into bed. Our early start and the many km we walked had taken its toll.
