Old and New!

Should be Oldest and (nearly) Youngest.  My Mum's 89th birthday and we are celebrating with a cake Jamie made this afternoon, Jamie at 14 being jointly the youngest member of our branch of the family.  Mum still manages well on her own, in the house I grew up in.  She's at least as much addicted to her 'device' as any of her grandchildren, on FB, a regular user of video chat and a games addict - I still cannot beat her at Scrabble!  Indeed she has been known to play scrabble on the ipad between turns in a board game of the same!  "Well you shouldn't take so long on your turns" :-)

Earlier we had gone to feed the ducks in the park.  Lots of ducks and some exciting pigeons (see extra) but they'd sold out of bags of feed.  We enjoyed sitting in the warm sunshine by the pond nonetheless.

And finally - please take a look at the second extra.  Mum's kitchen cupboards always yield something of interest.  First we played 'How Out of Date is This?' with her herbs and spices - 1995 was the oldest item in today's round.  Then I discovered the two items pictured, neither as old as my Mum but maybe as old as I am?  Go on - put your guess on the age of the Millstone Brand seasoning (it used to contain Ground Cloves) in the comments below.
