It's all too beautiful

We decided to have a slightly easier day today. We drove up to Honister slate mine and walked up to Grey Knotts and Brandreth, another two Wainwrights ticked off.
It's wild and beautiful up there, rather more bare and rocky than yesterday's walk, with stunning views in the bright sunshine and chilly wind , including this one over Crummock and Buttermere.
The mines are still in operation with old mine workings and piles of slate lying around. LooseCanon took some great photos of a marvellously dilapidated  and battered old shed rusting away in the rain and sun.
Three years ago I celebrated a big birthday up there climbing up the Via Ferrata , I loved it!
Extra is a big piece of slate marking the road up to the mine.
