The Old Forge (Friday 7th April 2017)

Now that light is getting into areas of the tiny forest garden, long dormant plants are beginning to reappear. In the bed below my old apple tree a small bunch of native bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) have just surfaced, with their creamy-white pollen filled anthers.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles - Groovy Kind of Love (1965)
Best known in the UK in its version by the Mindbenders, this song first surfaced in France as a single by Dianne and Anita (rumoured to be the song's writers Carole Bayer Sager and Toni Wine). The demo (by Toni Wine) was first offered to Lesley Gore, whose record label turned it down. The Bluebelles' version came out in America just a month after the Mindbenders' UK release, as the flipside to their biggest hit, Over The Rainbow, so was probably sourced from the demo.
