Wound up in Wexford

Hungry blackbird

We spent the morning planting the stuff we bought yesterday, and then weeding a bed with grasses in it - rather difficult, as most of the "weeds" are also grass!  We turned up lots of worms - this blackbird was hopping around after us.  Several times, he amazed us with how close he came.  I presume he has a mate on a nest - probably too early for babies? - as he collected up several bills full of worms and flew off with them.

By the time I took this photo, he seemed to have decided that enough was enough, and he needed to eat some himself.  W put down a few dried mealworms, which he polished off rapidly.
