Memory Lane

That happens to be the name of the dementia unit where my Mum is staying.

I had to dash down to see her as she became very ill yesterday.  Things aren't looking good unfortunately but she is comfortable and very well cared for.

On the way back I called in at Great Missenden where I spent my childhood.   Most of the shops have changed but the basic structure is the same as always.  The Lilac building over the road used to be The Abbey Book Shop where the owners were friends of Roald Dahl who lived nearby.   Since they died the bookshop is now the Roald Dahl museum.

My extra shows one of the few totally unchanged things I remember from my childhood.   It was a petrol station which I remember from when it worked.   If you zoom in,  the text on the door is quite amusing
