Past and Present

A dead salvia flower holds a raindrop in which living flowers are refracted. Somehow this ties in with what I’ve been doing today.

A few weeks ago I was puzzled to find that my grandfather was not buried, as I thought, with my grandmother, but further up the coast with two of his brothers and their wives. I had the idea of looking for answers online. Typing in his name was the first step on an amazing journey. I found his parent’s names and typed them in, and then their parents, on and on through the generations until I found a direct line to my 9 times great grandparents, John and Grace, who were born in the 16th Century. Strangely, my mother’s name was Grace.

I can see why people get addicted to genealogy.
