Whisky galore

We have came to a place for dinner tonight called Usquabe, just off Princes Street in Edinburgh. Usquabe means 'water of life'...whisky to be exact.  T is off for the long weekend and is heading up to Aberdeen tomorrow, I will head up there on Sunday.  Anyway, this place has a great whisky selection and next to our table is this cabinet filled with really old whiskies.  One, a Glen Grant was distilled in 1949. My family once lived in a wee village called Tomatin - it has a distillery which my dad worked at. You could smell the whisky driving up to the village and we were left to run and play in the acres of woodland surrounding the village. We played in the burn, played with all sorts of beasties, made dens in the woods, yet we never got lost, broke any limbs - we just had a great time and yet we had nothing but the wild land around us and a great close group of pals.  That is the time of my life I remember with greatest fondness. Oh to be a carefree child again!!
