Wanderings & Witterings

Risen

Each year, on a Sunday prior to Christmas, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church holds a service for those who have been bereaved. During this service people are invited to tie a coloured ribbon in memory of a loved one to what then becomes our 'Rainbow Tree'. (There are actually two trees 'created' - one for each of our two worship centres.)

These 'trees' remain in place until Easter Day, when the ribbons are carefully removed and the bare tree is discarded. The ribbons are later ironed and sewn into something beautiful for display in the church. Life coming out of death. Beauty arising from despair.

Today's blip is of the smaller of our two trees; the one that sits in the Forge Community Centre in the Balloch area of Cumbernauld.

Happy Easter everyone!
