Batman Bridge

Kendal has five bridges of note - but I'd hazard a guess that most locals could name a dozen. 4 of the road bridges are stone - seen in the distance here is Stramongate Bridge which dates from the 1700's - though a bridge has been recorded here ever since 1379 when it was known as the Pont de Strowmongate.
Regular followers will be unsurprised to know i prefer the iron Victoria Bridge - known to one and all locally as Batman Bridge.

After a very lazy (for us) start a bit of lighter work in the garden this morning to make the best of the weather - most seeds are now into incubators and the flags around the vegetable garden have been powerwashed to make them less lethal. Our own compost has been mixed into the beds- and the first crops will go in later in the week as frost is forecast for the next couple of days.
Then an afternoon hand writing elections envelopes (apparently proven to gain a better response) 400 done - 2000 more to go!
This evening a candidates meeting took me into town - Im out on a limb really in LibDem terms. They hold Kendal and South Lakes - but have no real traction or 'machine' in my part of the county. I got a little envious hearing tales of candidates with dozens of volunteers - but i also got some ideas and promises of help. So long as I know I tried my best come May4th then that'll be enough.
