Sitting At The Drake Stone

The boys decided we were walking again today.  BB wanted to do another walk from the booklet, so we headed to Harbottle, parked up and BB took charge of the walk.  It was at the edge of the Otterburn Ranges and the red flags were flying, but our guide said that the walk was do-able even when the red flags were flying, so we braved it.  The only thing we had to contend with was the really strong wind.  We quickly reached the Drake Stone, and continued to Harbottle Lake and then back through the forest, following the line of old concrete fence posts, before crossing to the other side of the river and walking back to the village.

It was lunchtime by the time we got back to the car and TT decided that we would go to his favourite lunch venue in Alnwick, which was a good drive away.  We were very lucky to get a seat and really enjoyed our lunch when it came.  It was raining when we left the cafe, so we wandered through Alnwick, ending up at Barter Books, where we browsed for a  while. Later BB and I went on a Pokémon hunt!

Here is BB sitting by the Drake Stone, studying the walk instructions.  The Drake Stone is a huge boulder that was believed to be endowed with supernatural powers.  TT looks like he is trying to make a fast getaway!
