Silvas Capitalis (forest head)

Easter backblip 3

Started the day with pancakes, bacon and maple syrup with lashings of black coffee. Then, with the forecast predicting that the rain would stop by mid-morning, we piled in to the car and MrM drove us over to Kielder in the hope of spotting some red squirrels and having a nice walk by Kielder Water to find the Janus Chairs and Silvas Capitalis - two large sculptures, for want of a better word.

But the forecast was wrong, and it was decidedly wet  - and cold - all afternoon. We didn't go squirrel spotting, but decided to make the most of our time and walked as far as Silvas Capitalis. The wooden head was larger than we had imagined, and we hadn't realised that you could climb up inside it to look out through the eyes - see extras.  (The Janus Chairs will have to wait for drier, warmer weather!)

On the way home we had dinner at the Redesdale Arms, and very nice it was too...
