Although...

We started off with a tour through Buttermere using the Honister Pass. This has got to be one of the most amazing roads in Britain - absolutely breathtaking. Buttermere had a unspoilt feeling to it which I loved.

Our day then took a bit of a nose dive as we drove on to Cockermouth. We did a tour of Wordsworth House but failed to find a suitable watering hole for lunch. We almost went in one pub which was well presented from the front, then we observed the clientele spilling out the side door -they seriously looked like pirates. We opted for an easy Greggs and headed off to Whitehaven. Oh dear. Whitehaven is a handsome town and has a real sense of history about it - as if every building has a story to tell. The docks and harbour were impressive too. However, the atmosphere of the town was like Bilston on a bad day! If you're from the West Midlands you'll know what I'm talking about. We quickly found our car and headed back to our honeymoon apartment.

We stopped by in Grasmere to see the Wordsworth graves and the gingerbread shop! I finished off my day with the biggest, hottest and longest bath on record!
