It was pleasant walking through Gosford Estate sheltered from the strong winds which blew on the nearby sea shore.  Most varieties of the daffodils were still looking good with some primroses and cowslips among them and bluebells emerging in the woods. The sun shone while we sat watching some baby herons reach out excitedly as their parents flew back into the nests high up in two trees.   I heard chiffchaffs and my first willow warbler of the year and the sound of several woodpeckers tapping in trees while an aggressive swan hissed and chased away geese with a little family swimming in the lake.  My attempts to take photos of the first Meadow Brown and Orange Tip butterflies were unsuccessful so instead here is a photo of the lake.
