Boat in the woods, by Tobermory - Greylag, OB311.

Yesterday: Headed North West, as usual stopping off in Ballachulish to see Shirley & Co. Also met a Geologist that I'd vaguely known at Dundee Uni along with Mrs Bain that used to work in the kitchen of the Stewart Hotel, at Appin. First Sand Martins of the year near Callander, appropriately in a sand pit.

Crossed Loch Linnhe via the ferry at Corran (for 45p!), heading for Lochaline, and the ferry to Mull. Alas, just missed the last ferry, so had to find a B&B for the night, rather than the planned Tobermory Youth Hostel. The B&B reeked of cats... which wasn't pleasant. It was okay otherwise, for a fiver.

Today: Caught the first ferry this morning (£2.60 for me and motorbike - I'm amazed I recorded all this kind of useless information, and more...). Buzzards galore; first Willow Warbler for this year; Kestrels and Black Guillemots at Tobermory. Saw a pair of Ravens displaying. Both birds (not simultaneous) flipped upside down whilst flying, calling softly three times, and then flipped back. Had never heard of this display before, but then there aren't many Ravens around East Lothian. Stopped by Calgary Bay, and near Treshnish Point too. Saw a male Sparrowhawk somewhere.
