Lots of false starts this morning trying to find a way up onto the Coulée Verte - a stretch of old metro line that has been turned into a long garden walkway - but when I eventually got there plenty of others were enjoying the sun. Midway along is a small park containing the only fountain in Paris that spouts free sparkling water.

This afternoon I decided to stay well above the ground and went to the Centre Pompidou. I loved the view from the top, hated the Cy Twombly exhibition, was gutted that I'm missing the Walker Evans exhibition by four days and was bowled over by Josef Koudelka's extraordinary photographs.
