Heritage

It is Heritage Weekend and we decided to visit a local mansion that is owned by an American Insurance company. They have recently spent a fortune on restoration, putting right the damage that seventy years of occupation by various firms has wrought. Amongst other things they have uncovered wonderful painted ceilings and panels.
The ones I have blipped were in a small room they call the flower room, the ceiling and every wall of which has these exquisite flower paintings in long panels. All the flowers depicted could be found in the garden of the mansion, and it is thought they were created by a daughter of the family in Victorian times.
Heritage Weekend is such a good idea, making available places that are not usually open to the public.
