Pedal On Parliament

Reprising our role as onlookers rather than participants, we stationed ourselves opposite Canongate Kirk to watch the cyclists on their way to the Scottish Parliament.

And what a parade it was; every form of cycle was represented - bicycle, unicycle, tricycle, folding, high-rise, recumbent, pedal-powered or electric-assist; children carried on trailer seats, in cargo bikes or pushing themselves on balance bikes or tiny pedalbikes; all escorted by the excellent stewards and protected by Police bikes and motorbikes (who had a quiet word with one cyclist who was racing dangerously), all in order to emphasise the need for good cycle-friendly infrastructure over Scotland.

It was good to see a few familiar faces whizzing past, including our own MP Ian Murray with Andrew Burns (see extra), followed shortly afterwards by Miss Flum and friends in their recumbents.
