Jane Stirling Festival

Just back from an extraordinary musical evening – the
Jane Stirling Festival in Stirling.

We heard superb playing by two young Polish musicians playing Chopin- Radoslaw Gozdzikowski and Aleksandra Moliszewska (see extra photos).

The event was a Polish -Scottish collaboration to honour the memory of Jane Stirling, a former pupil of Chopin, who lived near Dunblane.  .

She became his benevolent patroness and brought him over from Paris in order to play in a number of stately homes around Scotland.

Now a new generation of young Polish musicians are re-discovering the Chopin- Scottish link and are giving a number of concerts throughout Scotland to celebrate what will hopefully become an annual cultural event in both Poland and Scotland.
