Death traps

How many spiders' webs can you spot in this picture? Went for a walk in Oxfordshire's Wytham Woods this morning and it looked just like the picture on the link. Sparkling in the morning sunshine (but uncannily invisible out of it) were dozens of intricately spun spiders' webs; an awesome sight and an awesome fate for their prey. Having been to a series of talks about Shetland knitting at the In the loop 3 this week it struck me how like Shetland lace shawls pegged out to dry these are. And reminded that one of the best knitting shops in Shetland's capital Lerwick is indeed called The Spider's Web...
