Daubensee

Today we walked over the Gemmi Pass to Kandersteg, and thus from the Wallis/Valois region of Switzerland into the Berner/Bernese Oberland. The first part of the 'walk' was by cable car as on foot it is what the guidebook calls a very steep and vertiginous climb, certainly too much for me. The weather was not so great today and the first glimpse of the Daubensee at the top of the cable car was more atmospheric than delightful. Still, it was a lovely walk and fairly flat once you were on the Pass itself. It is also great to walk from one place to another in this way - and to know that your luggage is doing it's own safe journey via rail to your new hotel!
