Islay lambs

These two had to make my blip as they were soo cute and lambs are everywhere on Islay as well as Highland cows and cows with calves.
The sun was shining so I sat in the pretty garden with butterflies and bees fluttering around.I watched a male and female hen harrier displaying in the distance. Sky larks filled the air with their song.
A drive through Bowmore, Bridge end and Port Charlotte on to Port Wbmyss. We saw vintage vehicles travelling to Bowmore including some old tractors.
We bought a curry pie and cake and tea from the little cafe which had great views over to the small Isle Orsay with one of the Stevensons  lighthouse standing proud. Seals bobbed along in the bay and we could hear others calling, quite a haunting sound. I walked along the lovely gardens which are looked after the local community. The seals come up really close and you can hear them breathing.
We drove past the pretty white cottages down into Portnahaven. What an amazing place so calm and peaceful and an unchanged feel to the area.More seals and fishing boats returning from the sea.
We stopped at a craft cabin that was full of wonderful painted stones and slate and leatherwork. We bought a painted stone of a hare.
Further on we went for walks on Machir Bay, stopped at the Distillery and looked round the old church at Kilchoman and admired the old celtic cross.
A busy day but we wanted to make the most of the great weather :)
