Welsh Poppy (Meconopsis cambrica)

These are commonly yellow but all the ones in our garden are orange. They are also supposed to favour damp and shady places but I can testify to the fact that they will pop up anywhere and everywhere but where you want them! I guess that makes them a weed but they're so pretty they're mostly allowed to pop up where they like. I save the seed and scatter them on the roadside bed/verge every year and yet for some reason they won't grow there; they favour the flower beds and paving cracks.

Their petals are so papery thin that the light shines through them even on a dull day.

Lots more admin done today and a good Pilates session.
