Day three Paihia

On the way to Paihia we called at the Marsden Point oil refinery just south of Whangarei. This is part of a model used when construction was underway in 1964 and now used for instruction of staff. The model is about 30 metres long and 5 metres high. It shows every pipe and stack, so detailed. We came away impressed except by the price of our fuel. It hasn't gone down and the prices vary so much between companies and yet 80% of it comes from our one and only refinery.

Northland a tad wet today but looking good for tomorrow.
