Bloomfield Square

One good way to make yourself happy is to recognise those small, simple pleasures in life that bring you a disproportionate amount of joy. For me, going out for breakfast meets that criterion.

We didn't know where we were going to end up for breakfast when we left the hotel, this morning, but we set off fuelled by both the excitement of coffee and toast, and the adrenaline rush of finding out that our double-bluff security strategy of leaving the keys in the car overnight had indeed resulted in it not being stolen.

We drove through the outskirts of Leeds without seeing anywhere that appealed to us but Otley offered us a glimpse of a café that appeared to be just the ticket. And Bloomfield Square turned out to be exactly what we had been looking for (even if we hadn't been precisely sure what that was).

Coffee, toast and marmalade, as well as cheese on toast. Perfect.

PS This old record player was next to our table. I think the owner saw me looking at the records because he came over an put one on.
