White and beautiful

At the end of our house is a beautiful double-flowered white cherry, almost certainly what is known here as a double gean, Prunus avium 'Plena'. It's the double form of our wild cherry.  It has a more natural shape than many of the popular Japanese cherry cultivars and is a beautiful tree.

Our garden is just a steep bank, but apart from the cherry we have growing on it a beech, an ash, a hawthorn, two rowans, a birch, a sycamore, a young Scots pine and several hazel bushes. As this is the first house we can call our own it's also the first time we have actually owned any trees!
