Re-thinking the shell suit

A few years ago the shell suit was voted the worst fashion item of the past 50 years. (Its close association with Jimmy Savile may have had something to do with that.)

Nevertheless  I have a great deal of affection for the owners of these colourful  carapaces, slimy though they are (also) inclined to be. Birds love them too - the contents not the suits which, discarded,  can be found as stripy debris around  their anvils.
