tempus fugit

Lackey, lackey, lackey

Nurseries of lackey moth caterpillars are a common sight along the coast path in spring, the occupants using their silken hammock either to sunbathe or to keep warm. These larvae, although hairy enough to repel birds, don't constitute a serious allergy risk nor do they do lasting damage to the blackthorn they consume. Actually, they have very sweet little faces, captured  here by someone else.

Like a lot of cute babies they grow up to be rather dull-looking adults.
