Pickering Brook...up here in 'them thar hills' east of Perth... is becoming well known for its cider and perry.
Our fave place La Fattoria makes  a sparkling cider, La Fatt Granny! made in the methode champenoise style with cider aged on lees before riddling and disgorging occurs.

And a lovely drop it is.

The Granny Smith apple is a dinki di Aussie originating in 1868 and named for Maria Ann Smith, born Maria Ann Sherwood who married Thomas Smith, the family emigrating to Sydney in 1838.
