Arachnophobes look away

Greeted by this shiny little face when we opened the shed at the allotment.

The giant house spider (and she was about 2"/5cm across the legs!), Tegenaria duellica.

They're quite obvious at this time of year, as the males are scuttling about looking for mates. This one had a few eggs on her web. None of the 500 or so UK spiders are poisonous to humans.
