Day Five Cape Reinga

Here is the very most northern part of the North Island of New Zealand where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean. There is a slight roiling of water where the two currents meet.
A very special place for Maori or anyone who has similar beliefs as the spirits of the dead depart from here.
Our bus driver Chris gave a karakia to his recently departed mother and to hear that call was a spine tingling moment.
So many highlights on what was another long action packed starting with a dash down Ninety Mile Beach. The south west wind pushing the tide high up the beach meant we could only do half the beach trip and it was a thrilling mad dash.
Cthis talked non stop all day and we now have the history of The Far North, his family history, his philosophy on life and much more.
Another highlight was the Puketi Kauri Forest with several trees over 1000 years old.
If I manage to get extras on it will be Cape Maria Van Diemen and the lighthouse at Cape Reinga,
