Day Six Whangarei

Although we are still in Paihia we spent the day in Whangarei. This is Tikipunga the waterfall at Whangarei quite close to the city. Lovely bush walk as well.
We did something rather special and visited the Paper Mill where intellectually disadvantaged people make paper. They gave a talk and showed us all the steps. They then create cards, notepaper and sell them. They enter art competitions and wearable art type shows. We mixed and mingled with them all. It was great.
Then in the marina basin area to visit Clapham's Clock Museum. Again, so different. A private collection bequeathed to the city which has developed it into such an interesting place to visit.
Lunch and a stroll round all the art and craft shops. Then back in time to take the ferry across to Russell to stroll along looking at the historic houses, have an ice cream and enjoy a sit in the sun.
Just back from dinner at the RSA and packing bag as another early start and start heading home via Auckland.
