Coastal walking

Walking by the sea is what we come here for and we have indeed done quite a bit of it. This picture is my ideal - a grassy path with the waves close by.

A fine day dawned this morning and we set off to beat the Bank Holiday crowds. On arrival at Low Newton-by -the-Sea there were only half a dozen cars in the car park and we had the path by the sea almost to ourselves.

As we were about to set off along the road back, we came upon lots of people and found out that they were resting at a halfway point of a 29 mile coastal walk - a little more than we were doing!

When we got back to the car park, it was full to overflowing and there were many families off down to the beach to make the most of the sunshine. Good to see, but we were happy to leave them to it.

In the afternoon Gordon went off on his bike, but I was content to sit and read and watch all those walkers go past, as they continued their challenge walk. It clouded over later, but a lovely day for a Bank Holiday.
