Cockleshell

I went to Burray because three fin whales were in the area the last couple of days when I couldn't get away, but had no luck. It was beautifully sunny, but still with the chilly wind. This wind is bringing in the migrants and I saw about 13 common tern, 4 sandwich tern, about 16 sand martin at a colony, 1 chiffchaff etc.
I always think cockles to have a sort of designer look- maybe prehistoric people looked at these and thought of making things, surely the first jewellery was made of seashells?
