A time for everything

Mother and daughter

Saturday
We had storms come through overnight, and it was still raining when we woke up this morning, though it later stopped, and it developed into quite a decent day, with cooler, though still warm, temperatures. Roger and I went to work out at the gym this morning. Laura had been visiting friends back at Miami University yesterday evening and had stayed up there for the night. She was back by the time we returned, and we had some lunch together before going out walking at Shawnee Lookout Park, where this shot was taken, with the Ohio River in the background. In the evening we went out for dinner at Montgomery Inn Boathouse, downtown - another place that Laura wanted to eat at before leaving for Macedonia on Friday. Montgomery Inn is a Cincinnati institution, having its origins in our neighborhood in 1951. They now have a total of four restaurants, including one up in Columbus, the state capital. My favorite, however is the Boathouse, as it has a great location, offering a wonderful view over the river. It had been quite a while since we had eaten there, and we had a great evening. It's so hard to realize this time next week Laura will have left, and we wont' see her for about a year, until we visit her, hopefully next summer. She's obviously experiencing a mixture of emotions at present - getting nervous, quite excited, sad as she keeps saying goodbye to friends etc. We finished up the evening by watching the movie Billy Elliot at home on Netflix. Roger and I had seen the musical some months back at the Aronoff Center, so it was interesting comparing the two - personally, I think I preferred the musical - it seemed more dramatic and moving.
