Currently, lots of colourful bunting in Moscow in the run-up to the Victory Day commemoration on 9 May.  The colours of the St George Ribbon, 3 black and 2 orange stripes, are most prominent.  The ribbon dates back to 1769 and has had a varied history through Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation (revived in 2005, now commonly has a political connotation).
