Migrant in Moscow

Last minute repairs

This is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier .  Initially located at the 40 km peg on the Moscow-St Petersburg highway, the spot where the German advance on Moscow was stopped in 1941, the tomb was moved to its current location next to the Kremlin in 1966.

The flame illuminates an inscription: "Your name is unknown, your deed is immortal".  Lots of activity this week with Victory Day due on 9 May.  The bank of red carnations in foreground grows bigger as the day approaches.
