From Eccles Pike

A relatively smooth journey from Kent to our cottage in Derbyshire, near Chinley. Few holdups and only the usual collection of thoughtless and selfish motorists.

The cottage is high above Chinley near a local viewpoint known as Eccles Pike from which this shot was taken. We escaped the cold, dull weather of Kent for gloriously sunny afternoon but with a strong wind. The atmosphere was really clear and the light sharp especially when this shot was taken at around 6.30pm.

We had to go for a walk of course. We were enjoying an amble down a lane passing an old farm littered with loads of vehicles and engineering bits and pieces when we were engaged by an old man tinkering with a car. It was a one sided conversation which involved Brexit, Gardener Diesel engines, Blackpool and quotes about accountants and quotes from Oscar Wilde and John Ruskin. We'd still be there now if I hadn't said we were due to be at the pub for 7.30.

Interesting old chap though, don't suppose there was much passing traffic.
