Rochester Bridge and the River Medway

What a difference in a few days. Monday 3c, driving rain and wind. Yesterday and today, wall to wall sunshine and 22c

Pleasant walk into town for lunch and a bit of shopping, quick trip to the allotment to wrestle with black plastic, home again to mow the grass which has galloped ahead with the wet following the warmth.

I was hoping to see Matt play cricket locally today but it wasn’t to be. I have a list of fixtures now so I can be better prepared next time.

The reason for this purposeful activity was that we were going to see the group Edward II at Rochester Castle as part of this weekend’s Sweeps Festival. Only trouble was that it was an outdoor concert and we didn’t know! Apparently, the information was tucked away in the Terms and Conditions rather than on the website.

Fortunately, it was a fine and dry evening but it was cold, as it would be for an early May evening and we weren’t really dressed for it. The music was great , we’ve seen Edward II a few times before, a kinda folk reggae 8 piece outfit. Well worth a listen.

The support, or warm up, act was Funky and the Two Tone Baby which was a one man explosion of metal blues, hip hop and dance skilfully employing the creation and use of loops, voices and sounds to blend loud and quiet into a very energetic set.

Today’s blip is of the River Medway at Rochester Bridge in the late evening sun, just beneath the Castle where the concert was held. I was in my way back from the car having been to fetch an old coat that was in the boot.
