David Weir - Paralympian

I never expected the day to go as well as it did.
The weather, for a start, was brilliant as it has been for most of the events this year.
The journey from "home" into the Olympic Park went without too much of a hitch. I got there early enough on the sunny morning to miss most of the crowds and wander through an almost deserted Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre.
The volunteers in and around the Park were amazingly jolly, friendly and well organised.
The venue was awesome as can be seen by "Sideystar's" excellent Paralympic Series of images.

The energy and atmosphere crept into the stadium as the crowds and players filtered through the various portals. I couldn't believe how chilled out and friendly it all was, to have so many nationalities in one place all getting along in togetherness ... a lesson perhaps to the small minority outside of the Olympic ideal who don't.
