Why the 'wee mad' road ...

... is mad! But we love it.

Thought I had my blip all sorted, even the title. After a visit to the Communtiy Arts Centre (resisted buying lots of things) and a coffee at the Piping School we set of for a short walk from Reiff. It is the last hamlet at the end of the road at the head of the peninsula, the place where you can see the sun going down over the Minch. We've been before but it is a real scramble over the rocks and there are lots of impeding fences, (we climbed two) but there are great chasms where the sea chases in and if you make it to the next bay there are islands with sea bird colonies. We did this and found a better route back so have noted it for next time. (See extra - Sunshine in Reiff! - with Chris taking his face book shot)
It was very warm and almost sultry so we spent the afternoon at the house, some of us had a nap and I sat in the garden sewing!

We had booked a meal tonight in Lochinver, great seafood on the harbour. The most direct route is on the 'wee mad road' as it cuts off a big corner but it probably takes longer as it is so narrow and twisty. One of the worst bits is when you have a stone wall, usually above water at one side and a cliff face at the other. This was one such place. A sheep is sat in the road at the bottom of the cliff side and another is on the wall top at the other side. It's single track. Nobody wants to move.
I wound down my window and took this. It had to be my blip.

Yards further on two stags came out of the woods in front of us. (Extra 2) Very common on here. We saw two lots on the way back too. When we got to Lochinver there were 5-6 deer looking very settled on the football pitch! These looked a bit different to the usual red deer? They were still there when we left.

Returned the same way as the sun set after a lovely meal. Luckily we only met one car coming in the other direction. At this time of year the whole roadside is lined with wild primroses. This place may be mad but it's not far from paradise!
