The new bridge

On my way to Inverness early this evening , in order to attend tomorrow's National Economic Forum, I came over the existing Forth Road Bridge opened in 1964.

It is flanked on one side by the iconic, World Heritage recognized Forth Rail Bridge , opened in 1890 and on the other by the new road bridge, the Queensferry Crossing as it is now called. It is almost finished and will be in service later this year .

The design contrasts are amazing and this snatched picture shows the elegant lines of the 21st century contribution to a unique triptych.
