Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

Ahhhh.... bliss

I’m not even out of the boat yet after we just tied up on our dock in the gulf islands, BC, and I can feel the relief creeping in… it smells good, (if a little bit like otter) it’s quiet, the sea was calm at low tide, there are purple starfish to be seen, otters have enjoyed the dock in our long absence, there are crab shells and fish parts around…   It just FEELS good!   20 minutes later, as H was hauling up our stuff (I was not allowed to help), the wind came up and yes it did rain some but not a lot. We were lucky once again.,..,It cleared and the sun shone.  Now at almost 6PM, H and our neighbor are launching their boats from his boathouse at the end of the bay.,(we winter our little tin boat there)

I’m just starting to read Love of Country, a Journey through the Hebrides, by Madeleine Bunting, (recommended by PaulaJ) so the very idea of islands and their various appeals is in my head….  Will put together my island thoughts in a blip this week….

The extra is the 2nd new ferry, the Salish Eagle seen at the terminal in Tsawwassen just here from Poland to replace the ferry we took today.    Here’s the first one, the Salish Orca,  seen on our last trip up. and the story…
