Summer anticipation

Took time out thinking about the garden today, and time to instil some colour for summer. One of my favourites is the climber clematis, or old man’s beard as we used to call it.
Fact is that Clematis is now one of the most popular garden plants and no wonder; it can be grown on walls, pergolas, frames, in containers, or left to scramble through trees and shrubs.
We already have several in the garden, but I’ve spotted one or two blank spaces which we can usefully cover.
The dilemma is that I never realised there were so many different varieties, some with single flowers, others with double blooms, and still more that appear to be double doubles.

From summer-flowering varieties through to winter-flowering ones you can have these beautiful flowers in your garden for most of the year!
