An alternative view of South Bridge

Yesterday was one of those four seasons in a day type days in Edinburgh. Definitely a sense of summer still here and there, in the warmth of the air, but the chill of autumn in the wind. But when I cycled home in absolutely awful rain it was absolutely freezing and I thought we were in mid winter. So maybe just three seasons, because I didn't get any sense of spring at all.

Well, today seems to be holding out bright and summery. That's a delight, and it's always good to see Edinburgh in its sunny clothing. Especially on such a good day for Scotland.

An Andy Murray link would be too easy. Here instead is a long and thoughtful piece about the demise of the European Union, from one of my favourite historians, Mark Mazower.
