Train and rain!

Today we went on a coach trip to the Cotswolds. We left in watery sun and drove into torrential rain which continued without let up all day.

We called at Tewkesbury for lunch and then on to Cheltenham where we boarded the steam train in the photo - a fully restored Merchant Navy Pacific on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. As the rain was heavy and  the weather foggy plus steam from the engine, the views were well hidden but we still enjoyed going on the train to Toddington.

At the station we watched the engine taking on water. I took on water too as my trousers and shoes were sodden! We returned to Cheltenham to board the coach and return home.

Sitting behind us was a lady with a very loud and piercing voice who talked, barely pausing for breath, for the three hours each way. We heard all about her ailments, those of other people, the details of the neutering of her dog amongst many other topics. F suggested treating her to a bag of gobstoppers but we resisted the temptation!!

When we got back we realised that it had been dry all day in Shropshire but never mind - it was still an enjoyable day out.
