Clover, Buttercup, Bee

Went for a walk in this afternoon's very welcome sunshine. All the rain of the past few days has made everything grow like mad. And the greenery smelt very fresh indeed.

As the lanes around us are very narrow, we always stand still, with our backs to the high grassy banks, to allow drivers to pass safely and easily. Many drivers give us a wave, or twitch a finger, or nod in recognition; others whizz by as if we were invisible. Thus we divide the drivers between polite and rude. Today was a particularly polite day, with 14/15 drivers being courteous. For the record, there seems to be no particular pattern to which kind of driver we encounter - weather, gender, time of day - none of these seem to be a recognisably consistent factor. But, polite or not, we feel safer standing still while vehicles pass by.
