Retro #3: Love My Aids
...of the hearing kind.
I had a productive appointment in the hearing aid clinic today. NEW SIEMENS AIDS!!!!
Yipee. All ok so far, though a little tweeking is still needed.
My Aids History...
In the picture my new Aids are "on" my ears. The battery on the left represents my lobe, not an ear ring/stud. The two aids in the centre are the old ones - my last analogue aid (Phonak) on the left & my first digital aid (Siemens) on the right. The heart shaped tin represents my very first Hearing Aids from the late 70s, but I no longer have them (two horrible chrome boxes strapped to my chest with biege wires connecting the ear pieces). ):-(
As a deaf child in the 70s/80s I used to live in shear hope in thinking that each time I visited the Hearing Aid clinc with my parents, the doctors were going to fix my ears. After all if man could walk the Lunar surface, surely man could give me perfect hearing? Sadly this never happened. And I am still waiting......
So here I am wearing (vastly improved) Digital Siemens. My thanks goes out to all those Doctors, Hearing Aid Specialists, Audiologists, Asssistants, Teachers & Receptionists who made my life that little bit easier over the years. And last, but not least, all my love to my family & friends for their patience!
Ps: I found this in my "Man drawer" shortly after todays blip
Late 80's retro Aid
Syes a happy boy ;-D
